Sanctuary

After many years of housing insecurity due to health reasons, we are finally settled into our "forever home"! ❤🏠

It is a concrete dome home built with a rebar and steel frame kit from a company called Formworks in Durango, Colorado. The house has an earth roof, like what some folks might call a "hobbit house," and our custom design is open on 3 sides. It is built almost exclusively with inert or nontoxic materials and has a special air exchange system to help circulate fresh air as needed. The outside is stucco and cedar siding, and the inside walls are plaster. The floor is polished concrete with a soy-based stain. It is very energy efficient and maintains a comfortable temperature year-round. 

Most of all, it's perfect for our family, and we are overjoyed to finally see our dream becoming reality! We nicknamed it "Half Dome" after the iconic Yosemite peak, one of our favorite places to visit. 😊
